One is Devout, Fears God, is Charitable, is Prayerful, but not Saved!
The person had his focus on the One True and Living God, but was not yet saved! His devotion was to God and only God, he feared the Living God above and beyond all the false gods and doctrines surrounding him, he was very charitable and even built a synagogue for God’s people, and he was very prayerful to the Heavenly Father. BUT, he was not saved! No strings attached, he simply was not saved because he had not yet believed in his heart and confessed in his mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord. He did not reject Jesus, he simply had not yet heard the Message of the Cross. People need to hear the Message of the Cross! BUT, God made arrangements, through an Angel, to bring Peter to him to share the Gospel message. Upon hearing the Good News, the man readily believed in his heart and confessed with his mouth that Jesus is Lord. Not even an Angel of the Lord can save, but only belief in what Christ has done for us on the Cross can save. Let us not ever think that anything we do is good enough to redeem ourselves, especially knowing that even Angels cannot redeem, but only the shed Blood flowing from the Cross of Christ can redeem. People need to hear the Message of the Cross! “Only believe, only believe, all things are possible, only believe.”
God’s plan is to reconcile the fallen state of humanity back to Himself. That redemption cannot be accomplished by any efforts that we make on our own. Our devotion to God, reverence for God, enabling the spread of the Church, and prayers are not the methods that God chose for reconciling the sinner to God. Sin is washed away in only one way. It is only by believing in our heart and confessing with our mouth that Jesus is Lord can we ever be right in God’s eyes. God’s plan sent Christ to shed His blood on the Cross for the remission of sin and to restore fellowship with the Spirit of God! That washes away sin. People need to hear the Message of the Cross! Angels did not die on the Cross for fallen humanity, so our faith even in the most Holiest of God’s creation cannot save us. We need to separate ourselves from the goodness of the world to be solely devoted to our redemption to God through the Cross of Christ. Unless the heart believes in what Christ has done for us on the Cross, and unless there is confession from the mouth of our acceptance of Christ, then there is no salvation. People need to hear the Message of the Cross! We need to separate ourselves from the deception of Satan that tells us we are right with God in any other way except for the Message of the Cross. When we are baptized into Christ, then Christ baptizes us into the Holy Ghost. That washes away our sin. Along with belief in the heart and confession of the mouth there will flow the Fruit of the Holy Ghost. God’s love, peace, faithfulness, and perseverance will flower in us with a passion to bring other’s to the Cross of Christ. People need to hear the Message of the Cross!
We are the Temple of God and there is no other way to cleanse us inwardly than by the shed blood of Christ. The modern God of this technological age might make us feel joy, peace, love, and enable endurance, but there is no passion for those suffering outside the family formed by that modern god. In other words, there can truly be sincere devotion, reverence for the modern god, charitableness, and many prayers within our thoughts, emotions, and in all we do. But none of those things enable a person to humble themselves enough to believe in their heart, and confess with their mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord. Those who make their Temple a sanctuary for the modern god are not saved. People need to hear the Message of the Cross! Within the hearts of the people around the world, there is a lack of the Fruit of the Holy Ghost. The Temple of God, our body, flourishes with the Fruit of the Spirit because we believe in our heart and confess with our mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord. People need to hear the Gospel Message!
“There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, a devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always. He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius. And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God. And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter: He lodges with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what you ought to do.” Acts 10:1-6
