I believe we are familiar with the movie, “The Wizard Of Oz,” where the song repeats the words “Follow the yellow-brick-road.” That road would lead the four seekers to the Great Oz. Oz would pretentiously grant to them what they already have within themselves. Dorothy was given the secret to the passage home. In a similar venue, I suggest that we follow the spiritual-fruit-road, which blossoms within us to fulfill our inward being. The fruit of the spirit guides us home where the divinity lives within our souls. That divine presence is the source of all goodness existing in our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
Along the spiritual-fruit-road, we see beautiful blossoms of various kinds, with guideposts keeping us on the fruitful pathway. The softness, moistness, and tenderness of our soul point us in the proper direction. We are guided by following the signs of love, goodwill, and kindness that lead us to a place of harmony. There are signposts that reveal peace, gentleness, and meekness to establish tranquility for those who follow that route. The lights along the pathway enable us to see the goodness of faith and joy that fills the area with the optimism of life. There are even signs along the highway that point to rest areas. That is when we need to refuel our perseverance with patience and self-control. Let our inner being fill with the spiritual fruit as we discover our way home.
The spiritual-fruit-road guides into a healthy relationship with the divinity in us. The fruit of the spirit within our emotions, mentality, and behavior are signs of where we are on the pathway. Fruitfulness in those areas reveal that our health relating to the divine presence is thriving. If we begin to develop unhealthy thoughts, emotions, and behaviors of hatred, turmoil, pessimism, and despair, we have deviated from the spiritual-fruit-road.
The spiritual-fruit-road guides into a secure bond with the divinity in us. The fruit of the spirit that makes us feel comfort, peace, and serene within ourselves guide us along the pathway. Fruitfulness within the quiet of our inner being are signposts that our bond in the divine presence is secure. If we begin to feel inward desires to incite conflict, or disturb the peace, we have veered from the spiritual-fruit-road.
The spiritual-fruit-road guides into a place of belonging with the divinity in us. The fruit of the spirit within our acceptance, tolerance, love, and belonging with others guide us on the pathway. Fruitfulness in our relationship with one another is a sign of that we belong with the divine presence of our soul. If we become intolerant, quarrelsome, and hostile to social love, we have lost our way along the spiritual-fruit-road.
The spiritual-fruit-road guides into the supreme worth of the divinity in us. The fruit of the spirit developing within our self-esteem, and ego, are road markers of where we are on the pathway. Fruitfulness within our self-respect, and esteem of others, are lights that show the ultimate worth we give to the deity. If we begin to degrade, ridicule, and humiliate the divine presence within one another, we have deviated from the spiritual-fruit-road.
The spiritual-fruit-road guides into the self-expression that exist through the divinity in us. The fruit of the spirit in our words and deeds reveal the direction we are traveling on the pathway. Fruitfulness in what we say and do are road signs showing that our communication from the divine presence is thriving. If we begin to express ourselves with tones of pessimism and cruel intent to incite conflict, we have deviated from the spiritual-fruit-road.
Some people want to deny us access to the spiritual-fruit-road by barricading that route. They want to turn us in the direction of the highway that leads to sadness, anger, conflict, and wrath. Their intent refuses to negotiate for the opening of a fruitful pathway, insistent on sending traffic through the rocky and tumultuous way. They refuse to be accepting of free toll where love, peace, faith, and perseverance are along the way.
There are reservoirs of people who sabotage the spiritual-fruit-road by using cruel intent to detour us. Their attitudes exit through hostility to the beauty of love, peace, and harmony that exist in that way. People who are hindered from accessing that route transfer their frustrations through unfruitful sentiments to those they see on that roadway. When we are by the wayside of that fruitful road, we want to feel that we have some worth to somebody. We accept praise from those who esteem us for not being on the spiritual-fruit-road. They encourage us to hinder that path. That is when we begin to discover acceptance among those who incite conflict to the beauty of that road.
Some people are susceptible to hatred, violence, pessimism, and despair to those on the spiritual-fruit-road. They have never experienced the fruitfulness of that path, and have always been among the wayward. They feel that they have been tossed aside and not wanted, developing hostile attitudes. However, we can interrupt the cycle of being barricaded, and becoming a hindrance to the throughway of the fruitful path. That is done by realizing the spiritual-fruit-road opens to us through the soft and moist tenderness of our inner being. Obstacles are overcome, and the spirit’s road opens to us, by responding to detours through the spirit of kindness, meekness, goodness, and self-control.
We can assess that as we follow the spiritual-fruit-road, we will experience the beauty of love, harmony, peace, and joy. The diagnosis is that some people want to barricade that road to hinder us from entering that pathway. Even so, we plan to be led by the signs of the spiritual fruit that shows us the way. We implement that plan by responding to obstacles through the tenderness of our inner being. The evaluation of how we are doing along that road is evident through the spirit’s fruit. When we see the signs of the fruit of the spirit in our decisions at the fork-in-the-road, then we know we are following the spiritual-fruit-road.
