A Gift Is Brought To The Lord of Hosts
A gift exchange is always an enjoyable occasion! Well, I know the gifts we receive are not always enjoyable, and sometimes out right rude! I would say that all the elements present in the gift exchanges of today’s world apply to the gift exchange I’m ready to write about. God sent a gift to us, and that gift is the remission of sin and eternal life through what His Son did for us on the Cross. Jesus Christ is God’s Gift to us. As the spirit of the anti-Christ gains strength in the world, that gift is somehow considered offensive! The best gift that we could ever give to God is ourselves by accepting His Son Jesus Christ into our heart. I like the way today’s scripture says, “In that time shall the present be brought unto the Lord of hosts of a people scattered and peeled.” Israel, after their horrid experience in the Great Tribulation, will be a present to the Living God. They will acknowledge Christ Jesus as their Savior and will be given a place in the New Jerusalem, Mt. Zion. We also, who presently accept what Christ Jesus did for us on the Cross, are encouraged by the Jewish Apostle Paul, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, Holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” We will have a beautiful exchange with the Jewish people of Israel in the New Jerusalem, and that exchange is possible because we both joyfully accept the Gift of God’s Son, Jesus Christ.
The gifts of the kingdom of this world will never feed our spirit and soul, and will never reconcile us to the Spirit of God. Materialism is a tool of the anti-Christ to reward those who are loyal to his system. The soul and spirit are the territories of the Living God so that we can have fellowship with the Holy Spirit by the remission of sin. What Christ Jesus did for us on the Cross is for the remission of sin. The anti-Christ shuts off the soul and spirit to make the modern god of knowledge supreme over your life. Christ Jesus opens the soul and spirit so that we can be redeemed to the Spirit of God and have a soul full of spiritual fruit. When the Spirit of Christ lives in us, we are set apart from the desire for material rewards and worldly gifts. The lusts of the flesh, the lusts of eyes, and the pride of life is put in remission. As the Apostle Paul encourages; according to the mercies of God, we want to give our body as a gift and a living sacrifice that is Holy and acceptable to God. Our gift to the One True God is our reasonable service in what we think, say, do, and where we go!
In this age, where the spirit of the anti-Christ increases in fierceness, we definitely do feel scattered, peeled, and trampled on. BUT, we have a home in the New Jerusalem for our faithfulness in abiding in Christ Jesus. We should be willing to fellowship in the sufferings of Christ Jesus and to be conformable to His death because we know the power of His Resurrection. We want to be able to offer ourselves as a gift that is acceptable to God. In exchange, we receive the best gift ever which is eternal life. This is the best gift exchange ever! Please, believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord.
“In that time shall the present be brought unto the Lord of hosts of a people scattered and peeled, and from a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation meted out and trodden under foot, whose land the rivers have spoiled, to the place of the name of the Lord of hosts, the Mount Zion.” Isaiah 18:7 King James Version (KJV)
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, Holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”
